CONSTRUCTION WORK AT OUR NEW CHURCH - part 2
|
Posted: Tues., July 6, 2010 We are now asking for volunteers to help set up our new church inside the new facility at 1701 Peridot Rd. (Pflugerville, TX). Volunteers and workers, not only of the Russian Orthodox jurisdiction, are working together on the new church. Help raise a new Orthodox church in the Greater Austin area! We currently need: - help painting the walls and ceiling of the church itself - help with sheet rock and door framing work - help installing double doors for the entryway - help designing and building a small cupola with cross, over the entryway - help installing beautiful hardwood floors over the nave, solea, and altar - help installing directed lighting and the brass chandeliers - Lenten food for the workers (we're in the Apostles' Fast through Sun. July 11) - help with the parish vegetable garden and in installing flower beds (Luda's got it off to a nice start!) Please call Lydia at 361 894 3377 or Fr. Aidan at 512 317 2197 and they will steer you into the Lord's service! WISH LIST - nice icons for the church walls - new "vestments" in blue for the analoys (icon-stands) - blue vestments for priest and servers - dining tables for the (small) trapeza - children's chairs (for very young ages) for the children's room - computer and a setup where we can show videos in the media room (no TV allowed, though) - computer desk - shelving for the new bookstore - books, CD, DVDs for the parish library - house plants for the media and reception room and bookstore - sound system for the bookstore (could be just a nice boom box) - unused decent-quality vestments (we'd like some very very small stikhars/sticharia - brass / gold candlestands - two very fine gold lampadas for the main icons of the Lord and Mother of God on the iconostas (we already have about 16 small, simple lampadas) - red carpet for the royal doors to the west end of the temple - English language Menaion set suitable for ROCOR usage - one turning reader's stand (analoy) in wood - church music of all kinds - an English language Pentecostarion - church bells (current plan: cut oxygen tanks and hang them up for bells) Thank you for your faith, devotion, and love!
